A smile makeover can encompass a wide range of procedures. We do that when a patient is not happy with anything related to their smile, teeth, lips, position and alignment of teeth, color. We can really make a lot of changes in a smile makeover. Usually, our planning with that starts with an in-depth question of the patient as to what their complaints are, what their concerns are, how they would like to improve their smile to increase their confidence or for whatever reason they're being motivated to do it.
Once we know what the patient wants, we start our planning process and figure out what we're going to do to meet the patient's goals. It can include referring the patient to the orthodontist to move teeth around. It can involve moving the gum tissue with a periodontist to increase aesthetics. Lastly, it can involve the use of porcelain veneers, crowns and implants for us to accomplish the tooth side of things once the other parts are done.
We do also look at the whole frame. We do dermal fillers and Botox to enhance the lips and wrinkles around the mouth to improve the smile. So it does encompass a lot more than just the teeth to get the final result that the patient wants. Patients are very pleased with the outcome when they're done because most of them have wanted to do it for a long time, have waited and when they see the final result are really taken back with what we are able to accomplish for them.
